Tanzanian music heavyweight Diamond Platnumz and Kenyan Afro-pop star Bien have joined forces for a powerful new single, “Katam”—a soulful, Swahili-English love anthem that’s quickly becoming a regional favourite.
Released on June 8, 2025, “Katam” fuses Diamond’s emotional Bongo Flava style with Bien’s smooth vocal storytelling. In just 72 hours, the lyric video amassed over one million views on YouTube, with the song trending on Spotify and Apple Music across East African territories.
Diamond called the collaboration “a message of East African unity,” while Bien described it as “a celebration of love and language” that reflects both artists’ deep-rooted musical cultures.
Produced between Dar es Salaam and Nairobi, the track blends modern Afro beats with heartfelt lyrics and strong melodies. Though unconfirmed, “Katam” is rumoured to be part of Diamond’s upcoming EP. A music video, shot in scenic locations across Kenya and Tanzania, is expected later this month.
Industry critics and fans alike are hailing the song as a win for regional collaboration and a clear statement on the power of African artistry to bridge borders and drive cultural pride.
For now, “Katam” is not just a hit—it’s a symbol of East Africa’s growing musical influence on the global stage.
