Award-winning Ghanaian rapper Medikal has declared himself the rightful Artiste of the Year for 2025 following the release of nominations for the Telecel Ghana Music Awards.

The rapper made the statement during a live performance in Kumawu on Saturday night, where he paused his set to address fans about the awards race.

“You know they released the nominations for the TGMA and the Artiste of the Year category,” he told the crowd. “You know Medikal has been working extremely harder than everyone every year. Let’s tell the organizers that this year, no libilibi, no labala.”

The comment was met with loud reactions from fans, many of whom echoed their support during the performance.

Medikal is among the most nominated artistes this year, securing over eight nominations across major categories. The recognition reflects what supporters describe as one of his most active and impactful years in the Ghanaian music scene.

His nominations include Music Video of the Year, Rap Performance of the Year, Hiplife/Hip-Hop Artiste of the Year, Most Popular Song of the Year, Collaboration of the Year, Album/EP of the Year, Hiplife Song of the Year, and Artiste of the Year.

The Telecel Ghana Music Awards, organized by Charterhouse Productions and powered by Telecel Ghana, remains the country’s most prominent music awards platform, recognising excellence across multiple genres.

Supporters argue that Medikal’s consistency, hit releases, nationwide performances, and strong fan engagement strengthen his case for the top award.

With nominations spanning key categories and growing backing from fans, his campaign for Artiste of the Year is gaining attention as anticipation builds toward the awards night.
