Tanzanian superstar Diamond Platnumz sold out London’s Royal Albert Hall in a landmark show blending African sound, spectacle, and star power. The performance marked a historic first for East African music on one of the world’s most iconic stages.

In what’s being called one of the most powerful nights in African music history, Diamond Platnumz brought the house down at London’s Royal Albert Hall on Saturday, June 15, 2025. The Tanzanian superstar became the first East African solo artist to sell out the iconic venue, cementing his place as a global ambassador for African music.

Performing to over 5,000 fans, Diamond kicked off the night in a black and silver glitter suit, opening with his viral hit Waah! The energy was electric and only grew stronger as he performed back-to-back hits, including “Jeje,” “Utanipenda,” “Baba Lao,” and “Yatapita”—tracks that trace his journey from Tandale to international acclaim.

“To stand on this stage, not alone, but with the love of my people—this is a dream come true,”

The night was elevated further with surprise appearances by Mr. Flavour, Juma Jux, and Patoranking, who joined Diamond for live collaborations that lit up the stage and celebrated pan-African unity.

Backed by a live band, traditional dancers, and full visual production, the concert fused modern spectacle with authentic African culture. Visual projections and rhythmic drumming transported the audience straight to the heart of Tanzania.

At the close of the performance, Diamond was presented with a platinum plaque—a tribute to his record-setting show and lasting influence. Tickets had sold out weeks in advance, with VIP packages fetching up to £70 (approx. Tsh 230,000).

The audience included fans from across the UK, Europe, and the African diaspora, many waving Tanzanian flags and proudly wearing Wasafi merchandise.

“Diamond brought a piece of home to London,” said Amina Musa, a Tanzanian student in Leeds. “This show was about pride. It was about showing the world that Africa is ready.”

As the final chorus echoed through the historic venue, one thing became clear: Diamond Platnumz didn’t just perform—he made history. His Royal Albert Hall concert marked a cultural milestone, opening global doors for the next generation of African artists.
