The 15th edition of the event will run under the theme, Celebrating Afrika. The organisers have also extended the call to honour local music legends and icons.
Nominations can be done online or physically. The public can conduct nominations online by registering here(link is external), while physical forms can be downloaded here(link is external) and should be submitted to the following address:
337 Roslyn Ave
Waterkloof Glen
Pretoria
The deadline for all nominations is 5 November.
“Despite the COVID-19 disruption, the SATMAs continue its mandate of preserving South African heritage and the diverse cultures we hold as South Africans through promoting and developing traditional music across racial-ethnic backgrounds,” the SATMAs said. “This year, we will be honouring our great legends and icons from the entertainment industry such as music, comedy, radio, poet, etc. These legends and icons will not be competing among themselves but SATMA adjudicators and auditors will be responsible for the selection of the winners. Sending of SMSs/voting will not be required for these nominees.
“We would like to request that you nominate a traditional music legend, icon, artist, group, radio presenter, comedian and journalist of your choice, relevant to you, your radio station or record company.”
