The contest is open to undiscovered Ghanaian rappers and singers and will reward the winner with a recording deal worth GHC100 000 cedi. The winner will also be managed by the Richie Mensah-led Lynx Entertainment, which is the home of musicians KiDi and Kuami Eugene.
Interested participants can send in their entries via the Talent Hunt Live app on Android(link is external) or iOS(link is external). Applicants are required to register and upload their audition videos to the platform.
“The focus of Talent Hunt is to build a talent discovery model targeted at providing exposure to the best emerging talents, while providing access to industry movers and shakers towards a career in their chosen path,” Tekhype business development manager Mark McKenzie Danquah told Music In Africa.
He said although the 2020 edition of the contest would focus exclusively on music, subsequent competitions would explore dance, stand-up comedy and spoken word.
The organisers said the 2020 edition would run virtually on Zoom and via the Tekhype app. Veteran rappers Okyeame Kwame and Reggie Rockstone will join Mensah on the jury panel of the competition.
The finalists will be announced two weeks after the auditions close on 25 October. They will then go through nine weeks of competition, at the end of which a winner will be selected.
