Sauti Sol – Melanin feat. Patoranking (Official Video)
Sauti Sol – Melanin is a clear example of music for African unity and how we can become a tool that brings us togetherness into molding a better world through this beautiful continent.
Kenyan Afro-Pop band, Sauti Sol releases a banging new tune titled “Melanin.” A lead single of their forthcoming LP. However, this record is a massive collaboration with efforts from the star band who teamed up with Nigerian Dancehall superstar, Patoranking.
An attempt to steal the shine on the African continent with the best collaboration of year just before 2017 wrapped. The Afro-pop band Sauti Sol are turning up the heat with the announcement and release of their forthcoming collaboration album, Afrikan Sauce.
Interestingly, “Melanin” already comes with a music video as directed by the legendary Clarence Peters for Capital Dreams Pictures.Made up of Bien-Aimé Baraza, Willis Austin Chimano, Savara Mudigi, and Polycarp Otieno, the award-winning Sauti Sol remains one of the best musical groups to ever come out of the African continent. The smash hit records that are too numerous to mention remains a clear indication of their role and streak.
The Afrikan Sauce LP will be a continuation of their successful third album, Live and Die in Afrika, which was released in 2015. The band is calling the project an “art and cultural exchange,” which will feature collaborations with big names from across Africa. They also announced plans to drop a new collaborative track off the new album each month for the next twelve months.
Patoranking, one of the most sought-after dancehall artists on the continent and “Melanin” is just a continuation of his embattled style after knocking the monster South African Qgom beat on a record titled “Available,” just after smashing “Love You Die” with East Africa’s Diamond Platnumz.
The song celebrating women of color comes with a blend of colourful and tropical features adding a prevailing afro-pop style to the Clarence Peters project for Capital Dreams Pictures. Melanin features stunning dark skin women along with vibrant dance and performance scenes while Patoranking’s dancehall-like delivery makes it a bit sensational and unique!
We’re loving the atmosphere in the video shot in Lagos and full of beautiful African women.
Sauti Sol and Patoranking’s collaboration will always to be an explosive affair but the only thing different to this latest record is the fact that, it just steps things up a notch.
I can’t even imagine any perfect artiste to remix this song if not Ghana’s Sarkodie! Just imagine the last-minute rap added to this record, that’s legacy. As produced by Sauti Sol, the boys simply flossed and flaunted on their musical chemistry.
