Call for proposals: 2020 World Music Expo in Hungary

The World Music Expo (WOMEX) has open its application call for artists, DJs, producers, filmmakers and other music professionals to submit proposals for this year’s edition scheduled to take place in Budapest, Hungary, from 21 to 25 October 2020.

Now in its 26th edition, the music expo is attended by thousands of music professionals from across the globe annually. It features a dynamic programme of showcases, conferences, film screenings and networking events.

WOMEX aims to connect more than 2 500 professionals, and invites particularly professionals with new music, approaches and ideas to share with a wider audience.

Interested parties should submit proposals in the following four categories:

WOMEX says it welcomes proposals from all backgrounds as part of its aims to increase diversity on the international music scene. A jury comprising experts from different countries will select the best proposals.

“The Showcase, Club Summit and Conference selection is made each year by an independent jury, and the film programme is curated by our in-house film team. WOMEX receives many high-quality proposals for a limited number of slots, so please make sure you have all your proposal materials ready and submit your proposal on time,” WOMEX said.

In 2019, which was held in Tampere, Finland saw some African professionals on their programme. These people included Sevi Spanoudi (Black Major, South Africa), Marcus Gora (Mokoomba, Zimbabwe), Esso Tiki (Afrique Infos, Cameroon) and José Da Silva (Sony Music Entertainment, Côte d’Ivoire).

The application deadline is 13 March.
